The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Youtube™ Video Shorts for PC
Youtube™ Video Shorts for PC
Watch YouTube Shorts in Chrome's side panel, beside the page you already have open. The extension gives short videos a vertical layout with a dark background, sound controls, and navigation with your mouse or keyboard.
What you can do
• Move between videos with the mouse wheel, the up and down arrow keys, or the Previous and Next buttons. A guide inside the panel explains the controls.
• Turn on auto-scroll to play the next video when the current one ends. With auto-scroll off, the current Short repeats.
• Mute or unmute playback and adjust the volume from the popup. Your preferences are saved in the browser.
• Read comments, expand longer text, and open replies within each thread. You can also post a comment, reply, and like videos or comments when your account allows it.
• Keep your text in the form if sending fails. If the result cannot be confirmed, check whether it was saved before sending it again.
• Share a Short by copying its link, or open its original page in a new tab.
• Open and close the panel from the extension icon and refresh Shorts when you want to load new recommendations.
• Use the interface in Spanish, English, Brazilian Portuguese, Indonesian, Hindi, Japanese, German, Vietnamese, Turkish, or French. Chrome selects the translation, with Spanish as the default. This translates the controls, not video audio or viewers' comments.
How to install and get started
1. On your computer, open this listing in the Chrome Web Store using Chrome 141 or later. Choose the option to add the extension to Chrome and confirm installation.
2. Open the Extensions menu in the browser toolbar, marked with a puzzle piece, and pin the extension to keep its icon handy.
3. Click the icon and select "Open Reels". The panel appears beside your browser page.
4. If you see a sign-in button, use it to finish signing in to YouTube in the tab that opens. Use the same Chrome profile. The panel will detect the session automatically.
5. Scroll the mouse wheel or press ↑ and ↓ to browse. Reopen the popup to set the sound, volume, or automatic advance.
6. Select Comments to join the conversation or Share to copy the link. When you finish, open the popup and select "Close Reels".
The popup also provides links to rate the extension or optionally support the developer with a coffee.
An internet connection and a Shorts tab in the same profile are required. The extension may open a muted support tab to maintain the connection. Available videos, comments, and actions depend on the service and your account. The image may be cropped at the edges to fill the panel; opening comments shows the full image in a smaller preview.
Preferences are stored locally. The extension uses your existing session and sends requests directly to YouTube, without its own server for storing your activity. It is an independent extension with no affiliation with YouTube or Google.
