Turn Japanese YouTube captions into easy-to-read romaji — right in the video, in real time. Watching Japanese videos is one of the best ways to learn the language, but the native captions are hard to follow if you don't recognize all the kanji yet. This extension reads the Japanese captions the video already provides and draws a clean romaji line over the player, synced to the audio, so you can follow along and pick up vocabulary as you watch. ──────────────────────── WHAT IT DOES ──────────────────────── • Real-time romaji overlay — Japanese captions are converted to romaji on the fly and shown in sync with the video. • Reading made effortless — conjugated verbs and phrases stay together as whole words ("住んでいます" → "sundeimasu"), not shredded syllable by syllable. • Optional Japanese line — show the original Japanese caption underneath the romaji to connect sound, reading, and meaning. • Word-by-word lookup — hover any word in the overlay to see its reading (kana) and a short English meaning, pulled from a built-in dictionary. • Auto-enable captions — if a video has Japanese captions but they're off, the extension can turn them on for you.
