The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About WritersProof
WritersProof witnesses your creative process and produces cryptographic proof that you — a human — authored your work.
HOW IT WORKS
As you write in any web based text editor, WritersProof silently records:
• SHA-256 content hashes at regular checkpoints (never your actual text)
• Inter-keystroke timing intervals (milliseconds between key presses)
• Revision patterns and editing behavior
This data is chained into a tamper-evident evidence packet that proves your writing happened over real time, with natural human behavior, in a specific sequence that cannot be fabricated after the fact.
WHAT IT IS NOT
• Not a keylogger — never captures what you typed, only that keys were pressed
• Not AI detection — does not analyze your words or make statistical guesses
• Not surveillance — no content leaves your device, ever
TWO MODES
1. Standalone (browser-only): Lightweight SHA-256 hash chains stored locally in your browser. No installation required. Free.
2. Enhanced (with desktop app): Hardware-backed Ed25519 signatures, VDF time-proofs, Secure Enclave/TPM binding, and ENFSI-compliant forensic reports. Requires the free WritersProof desktop app.
WHO NEEDS THIS
• Students accused of using AI on assignments
• Authors protecting manuscripts from plagiarism claims
• Journalists documenting source-original reporting
• Academics proving research integrity
• Anyone who needs to prove they wrote what they wrote
PRIVACY
Your manuscript content is never captured, stored, uploaded, or transmitted. Evidence consists only of one-way cryptographic hashes, timing intervals, and document size changes. All processing happens locally on your device. Open-source reference implementation available for audit.
STANDARDS
Built on an IETF Internet-Draft (RATS working group). CBOR/COSE wire format (RFC 8949, RFC 9052). C2PA content provenance compatible. IANA-registered CBOR tags. Apache 2.0 licensed reference implementation.
