The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Windowed Fullscreen for YouTube - Fill Only the Chrome Window
Free, no login, no account.
Windowed fullscreen for YouTube fills the video player only inside the current Chrome window, instead of taking over your whole screen. Keep Chrome on half of your display and the video fills exactly that half - ideal for watching while you work, chat, or take notes in another app.
How to use
1. Hover over the player on any youtube.com watch page.
2. Click the toggle button in the top corner of the player.
3. Click again or press Esc to leave windowed fullscreen.
Settings (click the extension icon in the toolbar)
- Turn on when a video opens: every watch page opens with the video filling the window.
- Scroll down to comments: the video still fills the window, and scrolling down shows the title, comments and related videos.
- Button position: top right or top left of the player.
Why windowed fullscreen instead of YouTube's own fullscreen
- YouTube's fullscreen (F key) uses the OS fullscreen API and covers the entire monitor.
- Theater mode keeps the page header and sidebar, so the video stays small.
- This extension gives you the missing middle: a true fullscreen video inside the window you already have.
Highlights
- Works only on youtube.com and has no access to any other site.
- No data collection, no tracking, no network requests. Settings stay in your browser.
- No custom keyboard shortcuts, so it never conflicts with YouTube hotkeys (only Esc is handled, to exit).
- Lightweight: no background script, just a content script, a stylesheet and a small settings popup.
Known limitations
- Behavior may change if YouTube restructures its page layout.
- May overlap visually when combined with picture-in-picture.
