The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.

About WhatsApp Privacy Shield

WhatsApp Privacy Shield protects your WhatsApp Web tab from shoulder-surfing in offices, cafés, screen shares, and any shared space. Screen Lock — password-protect your tab. It locks automatically on every fresh page load and after a configurable period of inactivity, so you never forget to lock it yourself. Granular Blur — independently blur contact & group names, profile pictures, last-message previews, chat messages, media, and the message input box. Each reveals on hover so WhatsApp still works normally for you — just not for anyone glancing at your screen. Fast controls — lock instantly with a keyboard shortcut, or pause/resume all blur at once without touching your saved settings. Private by design — 100% local. No network requests, no analytics, no data collection, no remote code. Your password is never stored — only a salted hash. Runs only on web.whatsapp.com.
