About WayUI for Ao3
WayUI for Ao3 makes reading on Archive of Our Own easier to navigate and more accessible, without changing how AO3 itself works.
FLOATING WORK MENU
- A "Work menu" button stays in the corner of the screen, so the work's controls are always within reach, with no scrolling back to the top.
- Quick buttons for Previous/Next Chapter, Kudos, Comments, and Undo.
- "Jump to" Chapter start or Notes.
- Undo takes you back to where you were before a jump or chapter change.
- Keyboard shortcut (Alt+Shift+M), skip link, screen-reader labels, and 44px touch targets.
- Hides while you scroll down and comes back when you scroll up, or can stay put. Position: bottom right, center, or left.
ONE COMMENTS SECTION
- Collapsed until you open it, so reading a chapter doesn't load comments you won't see.
- Choose Threaded (every comment, sorted, replies nested), Flat timeline (every comment in posting order), or AO3's original paginated view.
- Collapse any comment and its replies; the comment box sits inside the section.
TIDIER PAGES
- Work info (tags, rating, stats) and the kudos list collapse to one line.
- Bookmark form opens in a dialog.
- Menu buttons use clear icons, each with a text label for screen readers.
ACCESSIBILITY
- Respects your system's reduced-motion setting, with its own "Reduce motion" option as well.
- Focus is managed for keyboard and screen-reader users throughout.
Every option can be turned on or off from the toolbar popup.
WayUI for Ao3 is an unofficial, fan-made extension. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Archive of Our Own or the Organization for Transformative Works.
