The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Watch Glyph: Homoglyph & IDN Phishing Checker
Watch Glyph is a free, open-source Chrome extension that detects homoglyph attacks and IDN/punycode domain spoofing, the trick where attackers register a look-alike domain using letters from a different alphabet (like a Cyrillic "а" instead of a Latin "a") to visually impersonate a site you trust, so "pаypal.com" looks identical to "paypal.com" in your address bar.
It warns you the moment a domain mixes scripts, uses an all-foreign-script look-alike, or spells out the disguised name of a well-known brand.
Free, open source, available in English, Croatian, German, and French.
Why install it:
Homoglyph and IDN-spoofed phishing sites look identical to the real domain in your browser, nothing about the page gives it away, only the underlying Unicode does, and people are bad at spotting a single swapped character. Watch Glyph catches what your eyes can't.
It works automatically: a red icon and a system notification appear the instant you land on a suspicious domain, no need to click the extension first.
It names the brand a flagged domain is likely impersonating (PayPal, Google, Microsoft, banks, crypto exchanges), so the warning is actionable, not just a generic alert.
Fully offline: no page content is read, no network requests, no tracking, no account.
