The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Volume Booster — Tab Audio Amplifier
Some videos, meetings and lectures are recorded far too quietly. Volume Booster
amplifies the audio of the tab you are on, up to 600% of its normal level, with
a simple slider.
FEATURES
• Slider from 100% to 600%, marked at every 100%, plus one-click 150% / 200% /
300% presets
• Fullscreen keeps working while boosted
• Built-in soft limiter, so heavy boost sounds loud rather than distorted
• Per-tab: boosting one tab never changes the others
• Instant reset back to 100%
• Light and dark popup, matching your system theme
• No account, no sign-in, no ads
FULLSCREEN
Most volume boosters amplify a tab by capturing it, which stops the page going
fullscreen. This one adjusts the video and audio on the page itself, so you can
turn a quiet lecture up and still watch it fullscreen. A few sites keep their
audio somewhere a script cannot reach; there the extension falls back to
capturing the tab, and the popup tells you when that has happened.
HOW IT WORKS
Chrome offers no way to set a tab's volume directly, so the extension passes the
page's own video and audio through a Web Audio gain stage, a limiter and a soft
saturation stage before they reach your speakers. Nothing is recorded, stored or
transmitted — the audio never leaves your computer.
PRIVACY
This extension collects no data whatsoever. No browsing history, no personal
information, no analytics.
NOTE
Boosting is real amplification. Above roughly 200% on already-loud audio you may
still hear distortion, and sustained high levels can be hard on small speakers
and on your hearing. Start low and raise it only as far as you need.
Chrome does not allow extensions to run on chrome:// pages or the Chrome Web
Store, so the extension cannot work on those.
