Vocabical Blocks

Turn a distracting browsing habit into a short English lesson. Vocabical Blocks redirects visits to websites on your blocklist to an English reading quiz. Read a passage, answer the questions, then unlock the website for a timed session. Complete quizzes to earn credits you can save for a quick unlock later. MAKE YOUR OWN WEBSITE RULES Add or remove blocked domains in the popup. Subdomains are included automatically, and you can keep useful exceptions such as music.youtube.com. New installations start with YouTube, Facebook, Reddit, X, and Instagram on the blocklist; you can change this list at any time. READ AT YOUR LEVEL Choose Easy, Intermediate, or Advanced passages. Start a practice reading session directly from the popup whenever you want to study. TRANSLATE AND SAVE VOCABULARY Choose a translation language, including Spanish, and reveal translations while reading. Select a word or phrase in a lesson to save it with its sentence. Revisit saved vocabulary from the popup or the full Word Notebook. Translations are off by default; selecting a language downloads its pack for local use. LISTEN WHILE YOU READ Choose an American or British English voice and listen to the passage. Speech is generated on your device after the initial model and voice downloads. You can prepare audio in advance from the popup. EARN TIME TO BROWSE A completed quiz earns 3 credits for Easy, 5 for Intermediate, or 8 for Advanced. Choose 10, 15, 30, or 60 minutes of access. You can also spend saved credits to skip a quiz, add an intention for your browsing session, and use the countdown warning to return to learning or snooze for five minutes using credits. YOUR LEARNING DATA STAYS LOCAL Your blocklist, saved words, quiz progress, credits, and session intentions are stored in your browser. No account is required, and the extension has no analytics or advertising. English lessons are included in the extension. Translation packs download from blocks.vocabical.com; speech assets download from Hugging Face and its delivery services. Lesson text is processed locally for speech rather than sent to a speech service.
