The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Vistara New Tab
Vistara turns your new tab page into a calm, beautiful canvas. Every time you open a new tab, a high-resolution landscape photograph from Unsplash fills your screen, with a clean search box at the center.
One purpose, done well: make your new tab a moment of calm.
Features
• Fresh Unsplash landscape on every new tab
• Author and Unsplash attribution on every photo
• Search box with autocomplete suggestions as you type
• "Hide Search" toggle for a wallpaper-only view
• Offline-friendly: recent photos are cached locally, so the page always loads instantly
• No accounts, no sign-up
The search box
When you submit a query, it goes to your current default search engine through Chrome's built-in chrome.search API. Vistara does not change your default search engine, route queries through a third-party server, or log what you type.
Privacy
• No personal data collected
• No cookies, no cross-site tracking
• Search queries go straight to your default engine — Vistara never sees them
• Photo metadata is served via our Cloudflare Worker (which proxies the Unsplash API); the photo bytes themselves load directly from Unsplash
• Autocomplete suggestions come from Google's public suggest endpoint
