About VideoText: Copy Text from Video
Pause any video and the text in the frame becomes selectable, just like text on a web page.
FEATURES
• Select text in a paused video with the mouse and copy it with Cmd+C or Ctrl+C
• Copy all text of the frame with one click
• Text is grouped the smart way: subtitles, chat messages and paragraphs stay separate, wrapped lines join into sentences
• Triple-click selects a whole sentence, four clicks select a paragraph or a chat message
• Optional: one click on the text copies a word, a sentence or a paragraph (off by default)
• Links and emails in the frame become clickable
• QR codes in the frame open with a click (Mac)
• Tables are copied cell by cell and paste straight into spreadsheets (Mac)
• Code keeps its indentation
• Hold Option (Alt) and drag to copy text from just one area of the frame
• Press Alt+Shift+C to copy the text of the current frame without pausing
• Hover over an image to select its text too
• Translate the text with the translator built into Chrome
• Turn it off on any site from the toolbar menu
• 30+ recognition languages on Mac, the languages installed in Windows on Windows
HOW TO USE
1. Install the free VideoText helper app for Mac or Windows from abarislabs.com/videotext. It reads the frame on your computer.
2. Pause a video on any site.
3. Select the text, click a link or QR code, or press "Copy text".
PRIVACY
Everything happens on your computer. The frame is read by the helper app on the same computer with the text recognition built into macOS or Windows. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else. No accounts, no analytics, no ads.
PERMISSIONS
"Read and change all your data on all websites": needed to notice when you pause a video on any site and to show the selectable text over it. VideoText reads a frame only when you pause a video, hover over an image or press the shortcut.
"Communicate with cooperating native applications": sends the frame to the VideoText helper app on your computer.
