The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About VC GitHub Lookup — Startup Signals on Hover
A free hover panel that shows engineering momentum and fundraise signals on any GitHub organization or repository page.
WHAT IT SHOWS
Hover any tracked GitHub org or repo and the panel shows:
• Commit velocity: commits per week over the recent window
• Velocity change: accelerating, steady, or decelerating vs the org's own baseline
• Contributor count and growth: active developers, so a hiring spree or a departure shows up
• Signal type: the pattern behind the move (hiring burst, infrastructure buildout, framework migration, deploy-frequency spike)
• Breakout status: whether the team looks like it's ramping toward a round
WHY GITHUB ACTIVITY MATTERS
GitHub org pages show repos, stars, and contributor counts, but not whether the team is speeding up or slowing down. This panel adds that direction. Public engineering acceleration typically precedes a fundraise announcement by 21 to 47 days, so a quick look at an org page tells you whether the team behind it is ramping.
WHERE THE DATA COMES FROM
Built from the public GitHub API. GitDealFlow tracks 400+ startups across 15 sectors, refreshed weekly. If an org isn't tracked yet, the panel says so honestly rather than guessing.
PRIVACY
Free, no account, no API key. The extension reads only the org or repo identifier from the URL and makes a single request to signals.gitdealflow.com. No browsing history, no analytics, no third-party trackers, no data collection.
WHO IT'S FOR
Investors and analysts who land on a startup's GitHub and want a fast quantitative read; technical due-diligence teams; founders benchmarking themselves against peers; journalists who cover startups through their code.
