About UserAuthGuard Chromebook Monitor

UserAuthGuard Chromebook Monitor is the student-device half of UserAuthGuard, a Chromebook management platform for K-12 schools. A district force-installs it from the Google Admin console onto school-managed Chromebooks. It does nothing on a personal device and nothing without a school account, because every rule it follows comes from the school's own UserAuthGuard settings. WHAT A STUDENT SEES • Whose Chromebook this is. One click shows whether the device is assigned to them, on loan (with its return date), or someone else's — plus the serial and asset tag. • What is happening right now, and only when something is: a teacher is watching the class, a test is running, screens are paused, sites are limited, a loaner is due back, the device has been marked lost. • Messages from the school and from the teacher, kept as a small inbox. • In class: raise a hand, or message the teacher back. • Report a problem, and a stewardship page showing how well they have looked after the device. WHAT A SCHOOL GETS • Web filtering. Allow lists, block lists and category policies, set per district, school or group. The blocked page names the site and the category and says the attempt was logged. • Scheduled blocking. A blocked site can be blocked only at certain times, such as after school, or allowed on the school network and blocked everywhere else. • Safety alerts. The district's own keyword list is matched and routed to the staff the district nominates. • Classroom. A teacher can view screens, pause them, limit the class to certain sites, and message students during an active session. The session has an end time and always stops on time. • Test mode. A supervised test session where only the test's sites open and other extensions pause. Everything the extension turned off is turned back on when the test ends. • Device assignment. A student signing in to a Chromebook that is not theirs gets a screen naming the assigned student and how to fix a mix-up, so devices find their way home. • Loaners. The student sees the return date and gets a nudge before it is due. • Lost and stolen. A found-device screen carries the school's contact details so a finder can return it. • Fleet health and self-service. Device health checks, a guided refresh wizard, device agreements and surveys, and a Refresh button that pulls the latest policy and installs a pending extension update in one press. PRIVACY AND TRANSPARENCY • A school Google Workspace account is required. A personal account gets nothing. • The extension enforces the school's settings and decides nothing on its own. • Screen viewing happens only during a teacher's active classroom session, and the student is always told while it is happening — by teacher name and class. • Keyword matching looks at search boxes and search queries only. Anything wider is off unless a school explicitly turns it on. • The camera and microphone device-health check is off unless a school turns it on. • Location is reported only for a device the school has marked lost or stolen. • UserAuthGuard processes student data on behalf of the school as its service provider. Privacy policy: https://userauthguard.com/privacy-policy/ GETTING STARTED Requires an active UserAuthGuard account. Force-install the extension from the Google Admin console onto the organizational units you want covered, then set your filtering, classroom and device policies in UserAuthGuard.
