About UAIE — Universal Adaptive Interface Engine

UAIE™ (Universal Adaptive Interface Engine) adds an accessibility panel to the web pages you choose, so that every learner can read in the way that works best for them. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Read aloud: hear the page in a British or American voice. The Reading Companion highlights each word as it is spoken, with optional syllable breaks. • Reading load: see at a glance how demanding a page is to read. • Braille: download the page as a Unified English Braille (contracted) .brf file for an embosser or braille display. Please proof-read before embossing. • E-book: save the page as an EPUB to read later on any e-reader. • Plain Language and Multiple Intelligences: simpler or differently structured versions of the text. Levels 1 and 2 work entirely on your device. Levels 3 to 6 use the Claude AI with your own Anthropic API key. • Translate the page into 31 languages (uses your own Anthropic API key). • UAIE Sign: an original visual gesture system, with quick links to BSL, ASL, and ISL dictionaries. • Visual profiles: dyslexia-friendly font (OpenDyslexic), extra spacing, focus mode, reading ruler, high contrast, large text, dark mode, and a color-blindness preview. • Live captions from your microphone, and calming background sounds. • The panel and settings are available in 31 languages. Translations other than English are best effort and are being reviewed by native speakers. PRIVACY BY DESIGN • UAIE asks for no access to websites when you install it. You decide: run it on the current page only, or allow it on all sites. • Your settings and your API key stay in your browser. UAIE has no servers of its own, no advertising, and no analytics. • The AI features are optional. Before any text is sent, UAIE tells you exactly what will be sent (up to 4,000 characters of the text you chose, to Anthropic, using your own key) and asks for your agreement. You can withdraw that agreement at any time in the settings. KEYBOARD Alt+A opens and closes the panel (Option+A on a Mac). The panel works fully with a keyboard and screen reader.
