The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Trace Recorder
Trace Recorder — capture performance & network in one click
Trace Recorder records a complete DevTools performance trace and a detailed HAR file of the active tab in a single click, then bundles them into a ZIP
archive ready to share or analyze.
What it does
- Start/stop recording with one click on the toolbar icon (a "REC" badge shows a capture is in progress).
- Captures a full DevTools performance trace (timeline, rendering, JavaScript, GPU, network…) via the Chrome debugging protocol.
- Records all network traffic as HAR, including response bodies, as well as WebSocket exchanges.
- Exports everything as a timestamped ZIP (trace + HAR + session metadata).
Benefits for users
- Saves time: no need to open DevTools, start a profile and export manually — everything is captured and packaged automatically.
- Complete diagnostics: performance trace and network traffic in a single deliverable, ideal for reproducing and analyzing an issue.
- Easy sharing: one ZIP file to send to a developer, attach to a support ticket, or archive.
- Robust: the capture is recovered even if the browser suspends the extension mid-recording.
- No data sent anywhere: everything stays local, and the archive is saved straight to your machine.
