About ThreadMeter: ChatGPT Exporter & Token Counter

🚀 ThreadMeter helps you export ChatGPT conversations — including chats with Custom GPTs — to Markdown, see token and turn counts, recover older messages when available, and continue your work in a fresh chat. It is especially useful when a conversation gets long, but you can export any chat you have open. 🤖 Keep your Custom GPT conversations portable OpenAI is retiring Custom GPTs. Existing conversations are expected to remain accessible, but OpenAI says they will not migrate into replacement Plugins. ThreadMeter lets you export important Custom GPT chats to Markdown so you can archive them or carry their context into a new workflow. 💾 Export to Markdown Download the conversation you have open as a portable Markdown (.md) file. 📊 Token and turn counts See how much conversation history ThreadMeter can currently measure and how it grows over time. 🔄 Recover older history Load older messages from the open conversation when available. 💬 Continue in a new ChatGPT chat Attach the Markdown export and use the included prompt to continue from previous decisions, open tasks, and where your work stopped. 🔒 Stored locally Conversation data is stored locally in your browser. Markdown exports are downloaded directly to your device. No ThreadMeter account or cloud sync. Works on chatgpt.com in both modes: Chat and Work. Custom GPT conversations are supported too. 🆕 What’s new in 0.9.0 • Export Custom GPT conversations to Markdown. • More resilient conversation tracking with much less dependence on ChatGPT page markup. • Improved History Sync for recovering older conversation history when available. • Improved Export so recoverable history can be synchronized before the Markdown file is created. • Clearer badge states and a refreshed onboarding experience. ThreadMeter 0.9 is a major resilience update: conversation history is now built primarily from ChatGPT’s native conversation data rather than relying on the visible page structure. This makes ThreadMeter less vulnerable to ChatGPT interface changes. ℹ️ Token counts are not ChatGPT’s remaining context, context percentage, or OpenAI billing usage. Historical recovery may be incomplete. Markdown export only; no PDF or JSON.
