The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About TabGlance - Visual Tab Switcher | Alt-Tab Thumbnail Previews
TabGlance is a keyboard-first visual tab switcher for Chromium-based browsers — like Alt-Tab / Cmd-Tab, but for your tabs, with thumbnail previews.
Switch between tabs by sight, not by reading titles. TabGlance shows a visual grid of thumbnail previews in most-recently-used order, so you jump to the right page instantly — even with dozens of tabs open. A fast, keyboard-driven tab switcher and lightweight tab manager in one.
Three modes:
Cycle — Cmd+Shift+E (Mac) / Ctrl+Shift+E
Hold the modifier, tap to cycle through tabs in most-recently-used order. Release to switch. A visual Alt-Tab for your browser tabs.
Search — Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P
Spotlight-style overlay. Type to filter tabs by title or URL, arrow keys to navigate, Enter to switch.
Quick swap — Alt+Q
No UI. Instantly jump to your previous tab.
Key features:
- Visual thumbnail previews of your open tabs
- Most-recently-used (MRU) tab order — works like Cmd+Tab for tabs
- Hold-and-release keyboard tab switching
- Spotlight-style tab search by title or URL
- One-key quick swap to the previous tab
- Customizable look: liquid-glass or light panel, cards per row, and how many rows the grid shows
- Settings from the toolbar icon or the options page: tab order (most-recent or tab-bar), display options, thumbnail capture, cache size
- Local thumbnail cache that survives a browser restart
- Light and dark mode
- Available in English, Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, and Japanese
Privacy & permissions — zero data collection:
TabGlance runs 100% on your device. No servers, no accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no tracking of any kind — the extension ships with no networking code at all, so it is technically incapable of sending your data anywhere. Tab titles, URLs, and thumbnails are used only to draw the switcher and are stored in local extension storage; the thumbnail cache is size-bounded and auto-evicted. Nothing you browse ever leaves your device, and the code we ship is plain, unminified JavaScript you can inspect for yourself.
Why TabGlance asks for access to all sites:
The thumbnail previews are real screenshots taken with Chromium's captureVisibleTab API, and Chromium-based browsers only grant that API to extensions that hold "all sites" access — narrower permissions are refused by the browser itself, so this is the minimum browser permission available for tab thumbnails. The access is optional and requested only the first time you open the switcher (a fresh install asks for nothing). Decline it and TabGlance still works — tabs simply show a colored letter tile instead of a thumbnail.
