The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Substack Assistant - Word Basket
Substack has a culture where readers actually talk to writers. But have you ever forgotten who introduced themselves in a follow festival, or what someone said in the comments last week?
Substack Assistant is a single sidepanel-based Chrome extension that helps you both remember the people you meet on Substack (reading side) and prepare your own posts for publishing (writing side).

📒 Contact Memo (reading side)
A memo widget appears directly on every Substack profile page.
- Free-form notes + tags (e.g. VIP, AI-related, regular commenter)
- "Add to history" — capture the comment body, URL, and context with one click
- Re-visit a profile and your past memos + interaction history appear instantly
- Memo widget auto-syncs to the profile's brand color
The sidepanel manages all your contacts in one place:
- Active / Archived / Bookmarks tab switch
- Cross-search by name, tag, or memo content
- Pin favorites to the top
- JSON export / import for backup
Bookmarks: a one-click button on any post saves its body, URL, and title forever. Solves "what was that great comment from last week?" once and for all.

✍️ Writing Assist (writing side)
Inside the Substack post editor (/publish/post/), the sidepanel exposes 5 tools:
1. Live word count + reading time — auto-updates every 4 seconds while you type.
2. Pre-publish checklist — body length, headings, image alts, internal / external links, opening hook, long paragraphs (8 signals) with a traffic-light status.
3. AI Search Optimization Score — 7-signal heuristic (0–100, grade A–D) that scores how well your post is structured for retrieval-style AI search (Perplexity, ChatGPT search, Claude). Each row has a "?" button that expands an inline panel explaining what the signal measures, the full-marks condition, and your specific result.
4. AI SEO suggest — sends the article body to your chosen AI provider (Anthropic / OpenAI / Google, BYO API key) and returns 3 SEO title and 3 SEO description candidates. Click any candidate to copy.
5. Auto Table of Contents — scans h2 / h3 / h4 headings and inserts a hyperlinked, properly nested TOC into the editor with one click.
