About Stream Monitor Companion

Stream Monitor Companion is the browser-side half of Stream Monitor, a Windows desktop app that watches your favorite Twitch streamers and opens their stream the moment they go live. This extension handles everything that has to happen inside the browser: • Slot mode (new): with Slot mode on in the desktop app, the extension keeps at most three stream tabs open as the desktop app plans: Keep Open slots for your highest-ranked Keep Open streamers, plus a rotating slot that gives everyone else who is live a turn. It opens and closes its own tabs to match, and tabs you close stay closed for that broadcast. • Stream window (new): pick one browser window for streams from the popup. Stream tabs open there without pulling you out of the window you're working in, and if you close it, it comes back at its last position and size. • Broken-streak saves (new): when a Stream Monitor tab opens, the extension checks Twitch's notifications once for "your streak broke" cards. With "Save broken streaks automatically" on in the desktop app, a broken streak gets a turn on Twitch's save-streak page, and the turn ends as soon as Twitch confirms the streak is kept. Chat messages are never read as streak cards. • Streaks at Risk: the popup lists broken streaks with the time left to save them. Click one to open its save-streak page, or in Slot mode, to queue it as the next turn. • Raid auto-close: when a streamer you're watching raids someone else, the tab closes automatically so you're not dragged into a channel you didn't pick. An optional "follow through one raid" mode lets you stay for a single hop. • Stays counted as a viewer: Twitch only counts unmuted players, but browsers block unmuted audio in background tabs. The extension keeps the Twitch player itself unmuted (so you still show up in the viewer count) while letting you mute the tab at the browser level. Per-streamer exemptions let chosen channels play out loud. • Watch streak rescue: after your own stream ends, the extension works with the desktop app to reopen the streams you missed in batches of three, rotating every 30 minutes, then visits the save-streak pages of any broken streaks so nothing slips through. • Auto-claim bonus points: clicks the channel points bonus chest when it appears, on any Twitch tab, including Twitch chat embedded on other sites. Optional, on by default. • Page load recovery: if a stream tab fails to load (network error, blank page), the extension notices and reloads it with increasing delays until it comes back. No more returning to a wall of "server not found" tabs. • Keepalive: periodically nudges the player to stop Twitch from dropping you as "idle" in background tabs, and dismisses "click to unmute" and content-gate overlays so streams keep running unattended. Auto-recovers from Twitch's "Click Here to Reload Player" error overlay. • Auto-mute tabs: optional toggle. Opens every Stream Monitor tab with the tab silenced so a dozen streams don't all shout at you at once. • Low-quality mode: optional. Sets each Stream Monitor tab to the lowest available quality once per channel to save bandwidth when you're watching many streams in the background. A quality you pick by hand is kept. • Max-tabs limit: cap how many concurrent Stream Monitor tabs can be open at once (Slot mode sets its own limit). • Sound settings check: warns you if the browser is set to block sound on twitch.tv (which silently breaks viewer counting) and shows the steps to fix it. • Auto-focus: opens new tabs focused by default, preventing the streak loss that happens when browsers load external links in the background. Tab management (opening, closing, raids, player control) only applies to tabs opened by Stream Monitor (identified by a ?sm=1 query parameter). On Twitch tabs you open yourself, the extension only claims the bonus chest and checks your notifications for broken streaks; it never closes, moves or mutes them. Everything stays on your computer: the extension talks only to the desktop app on this PC. Requires the Stream Monitor desktop app running on the same PC.
