Steam Buff, also known as “Gabe’s Smile,” is a browser extension designed for Steam players, especially Chinese-speaking users. It enhances the Steam Store, Steam Community, and pages inside the Steam desktop client. Its features focus on everyday tasks such as finding games, comparing prices, making purchase decisions, organizing your library, and managing downloads. Key Features 1. Smarter Game Search Find games using Chinese titles, Pinyin, mnemonics, custom names, and personal aliases. You can locate a game even when you do not remember its full English title. Steam Buff can also display custom Chinese titles and personal notes on Store pages. 2. Price and Purchase Insights View historical prices, previous lows, third-party price references, and detailed hover cards on Store and Wishlist pages. Supported pages may also display discount forecasts, review statistics, current player counts, sales rankings, completion-time estimates, and media scores. 3. Cart and DLC Tools Select individual cart items, temporarily hold items you do not want to purchase yet, restore them during checkout, and add confirmation before removing everything from the cart. DLC tools support bulk selection, bulk cart actions, and claiming free DLC. 4. Store Reminders and Status Markers Check information such as supported audio languages, Steam Workshop availability, and Family Sharing support directly on Store pages. Optional markers can also indicate games already owned by your Steam Family or included with supported third-party subscription services. 5. Review Filtering Filter Steam reviews using keywords, regular expressions, playtime, profile status, review count, and other supported conditions. This helps reduce irrelevant content and makes useful player feedback easier to find. 6. Page and Content Translation Translate Steam pages, selected text, and content shown in Steam news, developer updates, announcements, and patch-note popups. Translation can use supported translation services. AI translation processes text through the service configured by the user. 7. Steam Client Library Enhancements Display custom game names in the Steam desktop client, manage custom sort names, and optionally improve searches using original Steam titles. These tools help Chinese names and personal naming preferences work alongside Steam’s existing library organization. 8. Download Queue and Automatic Shutdown Perform supported bulk actions on the Steam download queue and optionally shut down the computer after downloads are complete. This is useful for large updates, overnight downloads, and unattended download sessions. 9. Purchase History Organization Classify Steam purchase-history entries to make different types of transactions easier to review and organize. Data and Privacy Steam Buff does not read or upload your Steam account password and does not include advertising trackers. The extension stores necessary settings, feature switches, cached data, and translation preferences locally. Features such as price lookup, title data, translation, AI translation, account services, and synchronization may contact Steam’s public APIs, Steam Buff services, supported third-party data providers, or services configured by the user. Compatibility Some features depend on Steam page structures, the browser environment inside the Steam desktop client, third-party APIs, and user-configured services.
