The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Stash
Stash is the Chrome companion to Stash for Mac. It does two things on the page you are looking at.
Full-page screenshots you can verify
- One click captures the whole page. It scrolls and stitches automatically, and splits very long pages into ordered parts.
- Each PNG carries a SHA-256 hash of its pixels, a SHA-256 hash of the page DOM, an ECDSA P-256 signature over all metadata, and a timestamp from an independent attestation server.
- The PNG also records the URL, title, browser, viewport and HTTPS status, plus generic page context such as the visible account or workspace name.
- The screenshot is copied to your clipboard and saved to Downloads. Stash for Mac can import it into its History.
Smart Paste (Beta): fill whole web forms from your saved answers
- Click into a form, then press Control-Command-A. Stash for Mac asks which saved profile to fill with, and nothing is filled until you choose one.
- Smart Paste fills empty fields only. It never overwrites what you typed, and it never submits a form.
- Undo, in the Stash toolbar popup right after a fill, puts back the fields Smart Paste changed and keeps any edits you made afterwards.
- It can paste a saved card into the secure card boxes that checkout pages load from their payment provider. Stash asks your permission for each provider once, before it fills anything there.
- Smart Paste is off until you turn it on. Chrome asks once to let Stash "communicate with cooperating native applications". That native application is the Stash app on your own Mac.
- Requires Stash for Mac 3.1.0 or later (macOS 14 or later). Smart Paste is in beta.

Privacy
- Your saved answers stay on your Mac, encrypted. They are only placed into the form on your screen.
- To decide which saved answer fits which field, Stash for Mac sends Jev (TypeSafe's AI service), through Stash's server, the form's field labels, section captions, the page heading and the names of your saved-answer categories (such as "Work email"). Your saved values are never sent. Fields for cards, passwords, bank details, Social Security, passport and driver's license numbers are never sent to Jev.
- Card numbers are not sent anywhere. They go only into the card field you are filling.
- For screenshots, only hashes, the page URL and domain, a timestamp and an attestation ID go to the attestation server. The screenshot and the page content are not sent.
- No account, no analytics, no ads.
