About ~/start
A new tab page that looks and works like a terminal. The first time, it asks your name, a city for the weather and a theme, right at the prompt. Then type to search Google with live suggestions, press 1-9 to open your links, or run commands:
- links: add, remove and reorder your links from the prompt
- todo and note: a todo list and a scratchpad on the start screen
- calc: type arithmetic and see the answer as you type
- weather: a four-day forecast from Open-Meteo
- theme: Argonaut, Tokyo Night or green phosphor
- dadjokes, fortune and cowsay, because a shell has them
On every other page, vim keys, in the spirit of Vimium:
- j k h l to scroll, d u for half pages, gg G for top and bottom
- f to click any link or button by typing its label, F to open it in the background
- s for a tab picker across all windows, with a preview of each tab
- t and o for a go bar over open tabs, bookmarks, history and Google suggestions
- J K to switch tabs, x X to close and reopen them, H L for back and forward
- yy to copy the page's address, i to type into the page, ? for every key
Chrome does not let extensions run on chrome:// pages or the Web Store. If you use Vimium or Surfingkeys, turn them off; they want the same keys.
Your links, todos, notes and settings are kept in Chrome's own synced storage. Nothing is sent to the developer.
