About StackScan Website Info and Technology Profiler
StackScan Website Info shows what any website is built with and who is behind it. Open a site, click the StackScan icon, and a panel slides in from the right edge of the window, over the page, showing:
• Technologies: every technology StackScan detected on the site, grouped by category with logos, with paid tools marked and an estimate of what the stack costs (StackSpend).
• PageRank: a 0 to 10 score based on number of links pointing to it, on a log scale like the old Google toolbar.
• Popularity: the StackScan rank, which combines every list below, the site's Chrome traffic band from the Chrome UX Report, and its Tranco, Majestic and Cisco Umbrella.
• Company: name, employee band and location, with revenue and profit from annual filings, tax returns and stock exchanges where the company publishes them, its parent company's figures for brands that belong to a larger group, and an estimated revenue band otherwise.
• Domain and hosting: registration and expiry dates, registrar, hosting provider and network, and known subdomains.
• Email security: mail provider, SPF and DMARC policies.
• DNS records: A, AAAA, NS, CNAME and MX, with a live check whenever you want one.
How it works
The data comes from StackScan's own crawl of the web, so the extension never reads or scans the page you are on. When you click the icon it sends only the domain name of your current tab and shows what StackScan knows about it. Settings lists each data source and when it was last updated.
Sign in with just an email address
You get a sign-in link by email; there is no password. Each email can look up 300 sites a day and 6,000 a month, and reopening a site within 10 minutes does not count.
Privacy
The extension runs only when you click its icon, and then only on that tab: it places its panel there and reads nothing from the page. It cannot see your browsing history or your other tabs. We count lookups but keep no history of the sites you look up.
