The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Sneetches for GitHub
Sneetches adds GitHub repository statistics inline next to repository links on any webpage you visit. At a glance, see how popular and active a project is — and how many hands are on it — without leaving the page.
For every GitHub repo link on a page, Sneetches shows:
- Stars - how popular the project is
- Forks - how many people are building on it
- Last pushed - how recently the project was updated
- Contributors (optional) - rough head-count
Plus visual flags for archived projects and broken (404) links
Works on any webpage - blog posts, documentation, awesome lists, Hacker News, Reddit, Stack Overflow, and more.
Setup:
The extension uses the GitHub API, which allows 60 requests/hour for unauthenticated users. To increase this to 5,000 requests/hour, add a GitHub Personal Access Token in the extension options (no scopes required). The Contributors annotation is opt-in and costs an extra request per repo — toggle it in the Advanced tray.
