The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.

About Slopper (Brainrot/Slop stopper)

Slopper tracks how much time you spend on 'Brainrot/Slop' content — YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok, Facebook and X (Twitter) — and steps in once you pass a time limit. It only counts time you spend actually watching. A video playing in a background tab adds nothing to your total, so the numbers reflect real usage rather than open tabs. WHAT YOU SEE Click the toolbar icon to change modes ("Mom" and "Dad"), toggle the optional "NSFW" wording, and set your daily limit anywhere from 10 to 60 minutes. There is a colour-coded bar showing today's total against your limit — green when you have time left, shading through yellow and orange to red as you approach it, and black once you're over. Click the bar for a per-site breakdown of exactly where the time went, or "See History" for the last 7 days. Totals reset automatically at midnight. TWO MODES Mom mode — the gentle mode. When you hit your limit, a message appears suggesting you take a break. You can dismiss it and carry on, but it checks back every 5 minutes to see if you're done, and a small counter stays in the corner so you know where you stand. Dad mode — no negotiating. The overlay cannot be dismissed, audio is muted, and the tab closes shortly afterwards. Come back for more that day and it closes faster. PRIVACY Slopper collects nothing. Your settings and daily totals are stored locally on your own device using Chrome's storage. Slopper also writes those same totals to a JSON file in a "slopper" folder inside your Downloads directory, so the companion desktop app SlopBoard (currently work in progress) can read them locally. Nothing is ever sent anywhere; There are no accounts, no servers and no analytics. KNOWN LIMITATIONS (AT THIS MOMENT) Detection of very small autoplaying videos (Such as in the X/Twitter feed) is imperfect — clicking into a video always counts. Slopper is actively being developed and these are being worked on.
