About Slideshow Disabler

Stop waiting for slideshows. Slideshow Disabler makes every carousel on every website switch slides instantly — no sliding animations, no fading, no auto-advancing past the image you want to read. 🖼️ WHAT IT DOES • Removes slide transitions — images snap into place instead of sliding or fading • Stops auto-advance — you control when the next slide appears • Works everywhere — applies to all websites automatically, including dynamically loaded carousels • Toggle on/off — one click in the popup enables or disables at any time ⚙️ HOW IT WORKS Two complementary techniques run together: 1. CSS overrides set transition and animation durations to 1 ms on carousel track elements. Using 1 ms (not 0) ensures carousel libraries that wait for transitionend / animationend events stay in a consistent state and don't break. 2. JavaScript API calls stop library autoplay where supported. A MutationObserver watches for carousels injected dynamically after page load. Works with all major carousel and slider libraries out of the box. A universal CSS rule also catches any custom or unnamed carousel that uses inline translateX + transition — regardless of library or class name. 🔒 PRIVACY ✓ No data collection — the extension never reads, stores, or transmits page content ✓ No analytics or tracking ✓ Open source code, easy to audit ✓ Minimal permissions: storage (saves your on/off preference) and tabs (sends toggle message to the active tab) Perfect for: • Users with vestibular disorders or motion sensitivity who need reduced motion • Anyone who finds auto-advancing carousels distracting • Shoppers who want to browse product galleries at their own pace • Readers who lose their place when a news homepage carousel advances automatically
