About Slate
Slate helps you save the useful parts of your ChatGPT, Claude, and other AI conversations so you can find them again when you need them.
Instead of losing useful answers inside long conversations or repeatedly copying and pasting them into notes, Slate lets you save selected text directly to your private, local library while preserving where it came from.
Slate also works across the web, so useful research, documentation, articles, GitHub pages, and other webpages can live alongside the knowledge you save from AI.
WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH SLATE
• Save useful AI responses
Save the parts of ChatGPT, Claude, and supported AI conversations that are worth keeping, without the copy-paste friction.
• Save selected text from the web
Highlight useful text, right-click, and save it directly to Slate.
• Save pages for later
Capture an entire page and keep its source information with it.
• Find anything quickly
Search and browse your saved knowledge from the Slate desktop app.
• Use Quick Search
Press Ctrl + Shift + Space to search your Slate library without leaving what you're working on.
• Keep the original context
Slate preserves source information so you can return to where a saved clip came from.
• Bring related ideas together
Merge related clips while keeping each original clip, source, content, and date accessible individually.
• Keep your library private and local
Your Slate library is stored locally on your computer. No Slate account or cloud storage is required for the core experience.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Install the Slate desktop app for Windows.
2. Install the Slate Chrome extension.
3. Find something useful in ChatGPT, Claude, or anywhere on the web.
4. Save the useful part to Slate.
5. Search, browse, pin, and organize it whenever you need it again.
LOCAL-FIRST AND OPEN SOURCE
Slate is local-first and open source. Your core library lives on your computer, with no Slate account required.
IMPORTANT
The Slate browser extension works together with the Slate desktop application. The desktop app must be installed for browser captures to be saved to your local Slate library.
Slate currently supports Windows.
