Slash — Emoji Shortcuts for Instagram

Find the right emoji without leaving your keyboard. Slash adds an emoji picker to Instagram web DMs: type /, search a name, and press Enter to insert an emoji into your draft. STAY IN THE FLOW You're writing a message, then stop to open an emoji menu, scroll, and find the reaction you want. Slash keeps that moment simple. Type /heart or /smile where you're already writing, choose an emoji, and keep going. HOW IT WORKS 1. Open a conversation on Instagram in your desktop browser. 2. Type / to browse, or keep typing a name such as /heart, /joy, or /thumbsup. 3. Use the arrow keys to choose an emoji, then press Enter to insert it. Selecting an emoji adds it to your draft without sending the message. After the picker closes, Instagram's normal Enter-to-send behavior resumes. YOUR EMOJIS, CLOSE AT HAND • Search emoji names and familiar aliases. • Browse categories in a compact three-column grid. • Keep favorites at the top. Press Space or click a star to add or remove one. • Reorder favorites by dragging, or with Shift + arrow keys. • Browse categories with Tab / Shift + Tab when the search is empty. • Press Escape to close the picker and continue typing normally. LOCAL BY DESIGN Emoji search and insertion happen in your browser. Slash saves only your emoji favorites, their order, and insertion counts in local extension storage. It does not store or transmit message contents, send analytics, or use cloud sync. No separate Slash account is required. MADE FOR INSTAGRAM ON DESKTOP Slash works in supported Instagram web message fields, including the Direct inbox and supported floating chats. It does not add shortcuts to Instagram's mobile app, comments, or captions. Emoji appearance depends on your operating system, and newer emoji may not display on older systems.
