Sift

Find the good in YouTube. Leave the noise behind. Sift out the noise. Get the gist of a captioned video with a short, icon-led overview and a detailed summary. Preview it from the feed or open it to read more. Your attention. Your choice. A calm, text-first feed without thumbnails, comments or autoplay. Search with purpose. Show thumbnails or hide the feed entirely. Need regular YouTube? Take a five-minute pass. Go beyond watching. Ask questions about a captioned video. Read streaming answers, follow timestamp links back to the video, and use optional web search when a question needs outside sources. Select part of an answer to quote it in your next question. Start a new chat or reopen earlier conversations for the same video. Light and dark mode. Settings that save automatically. Chrome on desktop. Free to install. The text feed, search, settings and deliberate playback work without a Sift account. AI features require Google sign-in and consent to share the transcript and question. The free allowance includes 50 summaries or answers each month. Optional Pro provides a higher allowance; current early-access availability and limits are shown in Sift's account page. Completed summaries and conversations are saved only in this browser until you clear local data. AI features depend on available captions and service access. Sift only changes YouTube. What's new in 1.0.1 - Icon-led summary previews and more readable streaming answers. - Quote selected answer text and reopen earlier chats for a video. - Login returns you to your original video; Settings includes What's new. - Faster fallback when an answer is slow to start, plus clearer connection recovery.
