The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.

About Sheddit

The modern Reddit feed is a slot machine's psychology applied to a link aggregator with a data harvesting mechanism built on top. Yuck. And now they are randomly blocking old.reddit.com and gating it with account requirements. Double yuck. Sheddit gets rid of all of that. What's left is a list of links, ranked, with the scores and the comment counts and nothing whatsoever trying to extend the session. It re-renders modern Reddit into the efficient and readable old.reddit.com layout -- on the fly, in real time -- as you browse. It works on the page you already loaded. There are no API calls, no login, no account, and no server in the middle — the extension reads the post and comment data modern Reddit has already put in the page and draws the old layout from it. If Sheddit cannot render a page, it gets out of the way and leaves Reddit exactly as it was. Currently expanding support to logged-in browsing (work in progress) What's new: 0.53.0 — edit your own comments Added: an edit link on your own comments in a thread when the signed-in account layer is enabled. It opens Reddit's native editor with your existing text. Changed: save in Reddit's editor, then choose back to sheddit to refresh the displayed comment. If the editor cannot open automatically, the handoff explains how to reach it through Reddit's comment menu. 0.52.0 — loading more, on any listing with ads Fixed: the hidden cards Sheddit could fetch instead of more posts turn out to sit inside ads, which it never counted as posts — measured on a live listing, logged out. An ad counts now, so nothing inside one is fetched as the next page. Fixed: a rule added in 0.51.0 would have stopped paging outright if Reddit ever put anything after its "load more" element in the feed. It only looks at posts now. Fixed: a bare loading… line could sit at the bottom of Reddit's own page on a slow first load. Changed: the options page, PRIVACY.md and SECURITY.md still said a few things the code does not do; corrected. See the changelog. Fixed: infinite scroll on the front page stopped after the first batch. Reddit hands the page a hidden element to fetch the next posts, and Sheddit triggers it because Reddit's own layout is hidden — but Reddit now uses that same kind of element for the community cards that pop up when you hover a subreddit name, and Sheddit was triggering one of those instead. Measured live: stuck at 27 posts, 52 once the right one was triggered. Ruled out two ways now, so renaming one of them does not bring it back. Known: load more can still stick on your own profile overview — a second cause, still open. OPEN SOURCE GPL-3.0-or-later. The entire source, including the test suite the layout is checked against, is at https://github.com/kookaburrabarrel/sheddit — so every claim above is something you can verify rather than something you have to take on trust.
