The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Share Beam
Share your screen. Beam it, instantly.
Share Beam turns any browser tab, window, or full screen into a live session anyone can join with a 6-digit code — no install on the viewer's end, just a link. Hosting and joining both require a one-time email verification; nothing further is needed on future shares from the same browser.
For the host
Start sharing in one click, from the toolbar popup or a floating control bar that stays open while you work in other tabs
See every viewer, mute their chat, grant or revoke mic access, or remove them — all live, mid-session
Require approval before viewers join, with a visible countdown
Two-way chat and file transfer with every viewer
Record or screenshot your own share, and choose whether viewers can too
A private local history of your past sessions (code, viewers, duration — kept on your device only)
For viewers
Join with a name, a verified email, and the code or a link — no extension needed
Mute/volume and Picture-in-Picture controls that stay usable in Fullscreen
A live connection-quality indicator
Ask to speak — if the host grants it, your mic reaches the host directly
Chat, with the host's messages clearly tagged
How it works:
Share Beam connects the host and every viewer directly, peer-to-peer (WebRTC) — video, audio, chat, and files travel straight between browsers, never through our servers. A small signaling server only helps browsers find each other, and never sees your screen, chat, or files. Separately, we do keep a record of session/participant metadata (names, emails, IP-derived location, timestamps) for abuse prevention and basic usage monitoring — see our Privacy Policy for exactly what that includes.
Permissions, plainly:
Offscreen document — hosts the screen-capture and peer connections in a hidden page so sharing keeps running even if you close the popup.
Storage — remembers your current session state and a local history of past sessions, on your device only.
Downloads — saves recordings/screenshots you take to your Downloads folder.
Tabs — opens one-time microphone- and location-permission tabs (Chrome only shows these prompts in a real tab, not a popup), and builds the "Copy Join Link" URL.
