The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Second Thought — Gentle Site Blocker
Most site blockers lose because they're all or nothing. You hit a wall, you get
annoyed, and within a week the extension is uninstalled.
Second Thought works the other way. When you go somewhere you asked to be held
back from, you get a quiet page instead of the site: a slow breathing circle,
one question — "what were you actually about to do?" — and the option to let
yourself in for a few minutes if you really meant it.
That pause is the whole point. Most of the time the reach for the site was
automatic, and three seconds is enough to notice it and go do the real thing.
When it wasn't automatic, you're not locked out of your own computer.
WHAT IT DOES
• Block any site. Redirects to a calm pause page, not an error.
• A daily allowance per site. Five minutes a day, or however long you decide —
the pause page shows what's left.
• Focus on and off from the toolbar, with the current site addable in one click.
• Counts every catch, so you can finally see how many times a day you reach.
PRO (one payment, no subscription)
• Unlimited sites instead of three
• Schedules — focus switches itself on for work hours or the stretch before bed
• Per-site allowances up to two hours
• Strict mode: no passes at all until you turn focus off
• 30 days of history instead of 7
PRIVACY
Second Thought asks for access to each site as you add it, one at a time. It has
no access to anything else you browse, and it couldn't get any if it wanted to.
There's no account, no sign-in, no analytics and no remote code. Your list and
your stats live on your machine. Remove a site and its permission goes with it.
