About Search Image Blocker

Startled by images you didn't ask to see? Search Image Blocker hides images, video thumbnails, image carousels and knowledge panels on Google Search based on keywords you choose — so you can read the text results without being ambushed by the visuals. ■ Who this is for ・People who find insects, reptiles, spiders or parasites distressing to look at ・People with trypophobia or animal phobias ・Anyone who would rather not have images and videos jump out at them mid-search Search certain topics and Google fills the top of the page with large images, video carousels and knowledge cards. For some people, that is genuinely upsetting. Set your keywords once, and whenever your search matches one, those visuals are hidden automatically — the text results stay exactly as they are. ■ It doesn't just read your query — it reads the results Sometimes what you typed contains no keyword at all — "what is this on my wall" — and yet every result on the page is a spider. That is exactly when you need protection most. Per-result blocking reads each result's title and image description and covers only the images that match, leaving everything else visible. It works on the Images tab too. ■ Three ways to hide, and you decide whether to look ・Remove — taken out of the layout entirely; the images never download ・Blur — the layout is kept, but the shape is unrecognizable ・Solid mask — a flat grey tile, not even an outline showing In blur and mask mode, click any covered image to reveal just that one; the rest stay hidden. Videos are always removed outright, so a hover can never start playback or sound. ■ Features 🔍 Keyword matching — decides what to hide from the words you choose, with word-boundary matching so "moth" never matches "mother's day" 🧩 Per-result blocking — when the query itself doesn't match, each result is checked individually 🎛️ Three hide modes — remove, blur or solid mask, with click-to-reveal ✅ Exception keywords — searches that contain a keyword but aren't actually about it stay untouched 🖼️ Covers the whole page — result thumbnails, image carousels and banners, video cards, the Images tab filter bar, related questions, the knowledge panel — each one toggleable ⌨️ Autocomplete too — preview images in the suggestion dropdown are hidden as you type 🔔 On-page indicator — a small pill shows how many blocks were hidden, with one-click reveal for that page ⚡ Keyboard shortcuts — Alt+Shift+B opens the settings, Alt+Shift+S reveals/restores the current page (both remappable) 📁 Categories — insects, reptiles and parasites built in; add your own keywords and categories 🗂️ Full-page options — a wide layout for managing long keyword lists, with filtering and bulk paste 🩺 Self-check — one click tells you whether blocking has stopped working after a Google redesign ⏸️ Pause — turn it off for a while without uninstalling 🌙 Dark mode + English / 繁體中文 interface 📤 Import / export — take your settings to another device ■ Privacy first, zero data collection ✔ Nothing is collected, uploaded or tracked — no analytics, no telemetry ✔ Your settings live only in your own browser (chrome.storage) ✔ Only the "storage" permission is requested; your browsing history is never read ✔ Runs only on Google Search domains and touches no other site ■ Supported domains 16 Google domains (google.com, google.com.tw, google.co.jp and more). After installing, click the extension icon in the toolbar, add the keywords you want to avoid, and you're set.
