The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Scholarwire for Canvas
Scholarwire for Canvas reads your school's Canvas the moment you sign in, and
turns it into a calendar, a study planner, notes, flashcards and quizzes that
already know your semester.
WHAT IT DOES
Pin the extension, open your Canvas in a tab, click the icon, and choose
"Use this site." That is the entire setup, and the toolbar icon carries a
mark until it is done. From then on the extension keeps your courses,
assignments, due dates, class meetings, announcements and files in sync with
Scholarwire, the companion app, automatically.
NO SEPARATE LOGIN
The extension reads Canvas using the browser session you are already signed
into. There is no second password, no developer key to paste in, and no
approval from your school's IT department to wait on.
STARTS WITH ACCESS TO NOTHING
A fresh install can see no website. The one permission it asks for is the
single Canvas address you type in, granted through Chrome's own "Use this
site" prompt, and it can be removed the same way at any time.
ON YOUR DEVICE, AND ENCRYPTED WITH YOUR ACCOUNT
Everything the extension reads is stored on this device, in this browser
profile. Using the Scholarwire web app needs an account (sign in with Google);
once you do, an encrypted copy of your notes and study material syncs to the
server so your other devices can open it. We hold the key. Nobody here reads
your data. The Privacy practices section below and the privacy page on the
Scholarwire website set out the full detail.
WHAT SCHOLARWIRE DOES WITH IT
The companion web app turns the synced data into a calendar you can export,
a study planner that blocks out time before deadlines, notes with flashcards
and quizzes, and an optional AI tutor. On Pro, the same semester can also
answer from inside Claude or ChatGPT through a connector. The extension
itself only syncs data; everything else happens in the app.
Built for one thing: never missing a due date because it was buried in a
Canvas inbox notification.
NOT AFFILIATED WITH INSTRUCTURE
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Instructure, the
company that makes Canvas, or with any school. Canvas is their trademark and
is used here only to say what the product works with.
