About Sapling Subtitles
Learn the language you love from the videos you already watch.
Sapling Subtitles turns YouTube's subtitles into a study tool. Open any video with subtitles in the language you're learning and Sapling takes them over:
HOVER ANY WORD
See its English, its part of speech and the form worth learning, right on the video. Verbs come in their dictionary form (prends → prendre), nouns with their article or gender (le croissant), and the video waits while you read.
WORDS THAT BELONG TOGETHER STAY TOGETHER
Particle verbs, reflexives and set phrases light up as one and are saved the way you'd look them up: German "rufe … an" becomes anrufen, Danish "står … op" becomes stå op.
CLICK TO CATCH IT
Click a word, or drag across a phrase, and it flies into your Notebook with the sentence it came from and a link back to that exact moment in the video.
REVIEW BEFORE YOU FORGET
Your Notebook at mysapl.ing brings each word back just before you'd forget it: first pick its meaning, then recall the word. Accents, small typos and a missing article are forgiven.
ALSO
• Verbs are softly tinted so you can spot them at a glance.
• Two lines at a time, so subtitles stay up long enough to read.
• Keyboard shortcuts: E shows the English of the whole line, R replays it, S saves the hovered word.
• Readings for scripts you're still learning (食べる · たべる · taberu).
• Using YouTube's auto-translate? Sapling keeps the original and shows its own English line underneath.
