About SAM Utility Belt
SAM Utility Belt is AFX Research's internal tool for researchers working property records in SAM, AFX's research platform. It is for AFX employees and contractors only and does nothing unless you are signed in to SAM.
It does one job: get the evidence from a property search into the SAM property record.
Save a county document to SAM. When a county recorder site shows a recorded document, a Save to SAM button appears on the page. One click saves the free unofficial copy to the property you have open in SAM as a single PDF, using the site's own PDF when it offers one, or by paging through the site's document viewer at a normal reading pace. The PDF shows up in the property's Files tab, where you can check it and report a problem with it.
Record a research session. Record your window or screen and your narration while you work a property, so the team can learn how searches are done and build better tools. A small bar on the page has pause, flag a moment, and stop. The recording is saved to the property's Videos tab in SAM, where it is transcribed.
What it never does: it never reads or stores your SAM login (it works through your open SAM tab), never signs in to county sites, never solves CAPTCHAs or goes through checkout pages, and never reads password, card or similar fields. During a recording, the pages you visit and the searches you run are logged with the video; on personal sites like email and banking only the site name is logged. Recording starts only when you press Start and shows a visible indicator the whole time.
