Check the initial host in webmail links before opening. Redirects are not checked. Allowing a link does not open it.

About Safe Mail Link Check — Where does that link go?
When you click a link in Gmail, Outlook on the web, or Yahoo Mail Japan, this extension pauses the very first navigation and shows a confirmation dialog with the link's real destination. Everything runs locally on your device — nothing is ever sent anywhere. Free, no account required.
Most phishing emails rely on one trick: the text you see is not where the link actually goes. This extension is a small confirmation gate that shows you the real destination before the link opens, so the decision stays yours.
WHAT THE DIALOG SHOWS
- Link text (what the anchor visually says)
- Destination (the real hostname)
- URL (the full URL)
- Only when applicable, formal warnings:
- Displayed text and real destination do not match
- Unencrypted connection (HTTP)
- Raw IP address instead of a domain name
- Punycode (potentially deceptive internationalized domain)
- URL shortener
The dialog never declares a link "safe" or "dangerous" — it only presents the facts.
WHEN IT HELPS
- You tend to click email links reflexively
- You are worried about fake delivery, bank, or credit card emails
- You want an unobtrusive safety check on a family member's or coworker's PC
- You simply want one extra look at where a link really goes
KEY FEATURES
- Never opens links automatically — there is no "Open" button. Even "Allow this time" does not open the link; it opens only when you click it again yourself
- Never rewrites anything — the link's href and your email content are left untouched
- Asks every time — "Allow this time" applies to that one URL, in memory only. No permanent allowlist is ever created
- Choose what to check — toggle Gmail / Outlook / Yahoo Mail Japan individually, and add any webmail domain of your own
- Add or remove the current site directly from the toolbar popup
- Fully keyboard operable (Escape to cancel)
- No account, no cost
SUPPORTED SITES
- Gmail (mail.google.com) — checks links inside the email body
- Outlook on the web (outlook.live.com / outlook.office.com / outlook.office365.com) — checks links to external domains
- Yahoo Mail Japan (mail.yahoo.co.jp) — checks links to external domains
- Any webmail site you add in the settings — checks links to external domains
PRIVACY
- Does not collect, store, or transmit your email content, click history, or browsing history
- All checks run entirely inside your browser. No server, no analytics, no telemetry
- The only thing saved is your settings (on/off toggles and added sites)
- No ads
IMPORTANT NOTES
- This extension is not a blocker and does not guarantee that any destination is safe
- The warnings are format-based hints and cannot catch every dangerous link
- Whether to open a link is always your own decision
