The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Retake the Lake
Retake the Lake corrects one place name. Where a page says "Lake America," this extension displays "Lake Ontario" instead.
It works in two ways:
• On regular web pages, it rewrites the text — including cases where the name is split across markup, plus tooltips, alt text, and the browser tab title.
• On Google Maps, it adds a small clickable badge over the lake. Click it for a short explanation of where the name comes from.
A note on Google Maps: the name painted on the map itself does not change. Extensions can’t rewrite the text in a map, so the badge is a workaround. The extension does correct the Maps sidebar, search results, autocomplete, and tab title.
Both features have their own on/off switch.
This extension collects no data, sends nothing anywhere, and changes only what is displayed. The underlying page is untouched; disable it and refresh to see the original.
