The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About RecordooStudio — Screen Recorder & Editor
# Chrome Web Store — Description field
Paste everything below the line into the **Description** box (16,000 character
limit; this is about 4,200).
---
Record your screen. Edit it properly. Keep it all on your machine.
RecordooStudio records a browser tab, a region you draw, your whole screen, a
single app window, or just your camera — and then hands you a real editor
instead of a raw file. Zooms, cuts, subtitles, animated elements, a colour
grade, MP4 export. No account, no upload, no watermark, no time limit.
Everything happens on your computer. Your recordings never leave it.
■ RECORDING
• Tab, drawn area, full screen, app window, or camera only
• Microphone and system audio, mixed into one track
• Push to talk — hold Space so only the parts you mean get recorded
• Camera overlay: circle, square or a full rectangular pane
• Countdown, auto-stop timer, quality and frame-rate presets
• No length limit and no watermark, ever
■ WHILE YOU RECORD
A floating toolbar sits on the page, draggable anywhere, and fades out when
you need it gone.
• Thirteen drawing tools: select and move, pen, arrow, line, rectangle,
ellipse, diamond, sticky note, callout bubble, highlighter, text, numbered
steps and an eraser
• Fill, dashed and opacity options on every shape
• Live blur boxes over anything you would rather not publish
• Click ripples and a cursor spotlight
• Pause, resume, restart the take, or discard it
• Keyboard shortcuts for everything
■ THE EDITOR
An eight-track timeline: video, audio, zoom, speed, elements, subtitles, notes
and music. Drag a block to move it, pull an edge to retime it.
• Cut, trim and split; speed up or slow down any region
• Zoom regions with smooth ease-in and ease-out
• The recording's audio sits on its own track — detach it to slide it against
the picture, mute it, or set its level
• Backgrounds: fourteen wallpapers, gradients, solid colours or your own image
• Frame padding, rounded corners, shadow, and free placement — move and scale
the recording anywhere in the frame
• Aspect presets including 9:16 and 1:1, with one-click vertical layouts that
free up half the frame for a still or a second video
• Colour grades plus manual brightness, contrast, saturation and vignette
■ ELEMENTS
• Text with eight typographic presets
• Emoji, 48 built-in vector icons, eight shapes, images and video clips
• Ten in-animations, six out-animations and four loops per element
• Drag directly on the preview, or drag its block on the timeline
• A nine-anchor placement grid plus fill-frame and half-frame presets
■ SUBTITLES
• Four rendering modes: the whole line, the spoken word highlighted in a
second colour, a progressive reveal, or one word at a time
• Pop, bounce or rise on the active word
• Outline, highlight box, vertical gradients, size and position
• Five one-click looks
• Import and export .srt
• Optional automatic captions from your voice (see the note at the end)
■ AUTO-EDIT
One button reads the click track recorded alongside your screen and the audio
waveform, then builds the cut: dead air trimmed, a zoom on every click
cluster, transitions on the new joins, a title card and a progress bar. Three
paces — calm, balanced or punchy. Everything it does is a normal edit you can
adjust or undo.
■ TEMPLATES
Twelve ready-made recipes across product promos, tutorials, news updates and
shorts. Each one sets the aspect, background, grade, caption style and a stack
of animated elements timed against your recording's length — then leaves every
layer editable.
■ EXPORT
MP4 (H.264 + AAC), WebM (VP9 + Opus) and GIF. Frames are rendered one by one
through WebCodecs, so the file matches the preview exactly. Choose format,
quality and height before it starts, and whether Chrome should ask where to
save.
■ ELEVEN LANGUAGES
English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Turkish, Persian, and Kurdish in
Sorani, Badini, Kurmanji and Hawrami. Pick one from the flag — it is stored per
extension, not taken from your browser language.
■ PRIVACY
There is no server. There is no account. There is no analytics, no tracking
and no telemetry. Recordings and projects live in your browser's local storage
and are never uploaded anywhere. Exported files go wherever you choose to save
them.
One exception, and it is opt-in: **automatic subtitles from your voice** use
Chrome's built-in speech engine, which sends microphone audio to Google to
transcribe it. That switch is off by default and says so where you turn it on.
Leave it off and nothing leaves your machine. You can also import an .srt made
elsewhere and use every other subtitle feature offline.
■ GOOD TO KNOW
Chrome does not allow any extension to capture its own pages — the new tab
page, Settings, the Web Store, other extensions' pages. RecordooStudio detects
those and offers screen capture instead, which works everywhere.
Speech-to-text is not bundled as an offline model: that would add tens of
megabytes to the download. Import an .srt from Whisper or any transcription
tool and the subtitle editor takes it from there.
Requires Chrome 116 or newer.
