UPDATE: Added Skim & Research modes! Reading Companion is a lightweight, local-first side panel designed to help you actively engage with articles, PDFs, and web content without switching tabs or losing focus. Perfect for students, researchers, and anyone who gets easily distracted while reading. Key Features: • Dual Reading Modes: - Skim Mode: High-level overview fields (Topic, Source, Main Idea, Reactions) for quick article summaries. - Research Mode: Dynamic workspace with modular note boxes, page markers, and bullet controls for in-depth analysis. • Built-in Graphic Organizers: Quickly insert templates for Cause & Effect, Timelines, and Claim/Reason/Evidence analysis. • Local & Private: Notes automatically save directly to your browser (chrome.storage.local). No account, external servers, or data collection required. • Flexible Export: Export your reading session as a clean Markdown (.md) document or JSON backup for your favorite second-brain apps. Whether you're breaking down a dense research paper, studying for class, or practicing active reading strategies, Reading Companion keeps your thoughts organized right next to the text.
