About Quiet: Hide YouTube Shorts & Distractions

Quiet strips YouTube down to the video you came for. Hiding is free: 28 switches, no account. Quiet Pro is for what a switch can't do by itself: block a channel or a word everywhere, keep Quiet on through your work hours, and set the rules on a child's browser from your own. Shorts, the endless homepage feed, recommended videos, end cards and comments are gone before the page finishes loading. Search, your subscriptions, playlists, history and the video itself stay exactly where they were. WHAT QUIET HIDES • Shorts, wherever they appear • The homepage feed • Recommended videos beside the one you're watching • End-screen suggestions • The comments section, and live chat • Suggested videos after a video ends, and the end cards over its last seconds • Explore and trending, playlist rows and mixes • Autoplay, info cards and the channel watermark • Merch, ticket and fundraiser shelves • Rows in search that aren't results ("Latest from", "People also watched") • Optional: thumbnails, view and like counts, community posts, search suggestions, a video's buttons and description, the notification bell, even the top bar • Optional: open your Subscriptions when you go to the homepage 28 switches in all. Every rule has its own switch in the toolbar popup, and Alt+Shift+Q turns Quiet off and on with one shortcut. It works the moment it's installed: no account, no sign-up, no setup. QUIET PRO (OPTIONAL) For people who want Quiet to follow them, and to work on a schedule: • Sync your settings across every Chrome browser you use • Schedules: strict during work or study hours, relaxed after • Focus sessions: lock everything on for 30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours • Profiles, with presets for students, remote workers, writers and parents • Channel allowlist and blocklist, and keyword filters • A daily watch limit, and a gentle "still intentional?" nudge • A web dashboard to change everything remotely • A parent lock for a shared family computer or school Chromebook • Weekly stats on what Quiet hid Pro is a subscription on our website, billed through Stripe, with a 7-day free trial (card required, cancel any time before it ends). The free version never expires and needs no account. BUILT TO STAY OUT OF YOUR WAY • When YouTube changes its layout, fixes to what Quiet hides reach you without an extension update, usually within 48 hours. • Light: Quiet adds one small stylesheet to the page. No measurable effect on how fast YouTube loads. • Runs only on www.youtube.com and m.youtube.com. It never touches YouTube Music, YouTube Studio or any other site. PRIVACY • Without an account, the extension sends us nothing. Your settings stay in your browser. • Quiet never collects your watch history or browsing activity. If you set the optional channel or keyword filters, matching happens locally in your browser. The only page text that ever leaves your device is a channel name you deliberately add to your own allowlist, which syncs only to your own account. • No ads, no analytics and no tracking in the extension. • With Pro, only your settings and simple daily totals (how many things Quiet hid, and minutes spent on YouTube) are synced, so your dashboard and devices match. Full privacy policy: https://www.letsgetquiet.com/privacy PERMISSIONS, AND WHY • "Read and change your data on www.youtube.com and m.youtube.com": this is how Quiet hides elements on YouTube pages, and, if you use the optional channel or keyword filters, how it matches video titles and channel names against them locally in your browser. • Storage: remembers your settings in your browser. • Alarms: keeps Pro settings in sync and checks for updated hiding rules on a schedule. Quiet can't reach the YouTube app on phones or tablets; it works in the Chrome browser.
