About Quick Notes
Quick Notes is a lightweight extension that lets you save persistent sticky notes for every tab in your browser. Whether you're researching a complex topic, shopping online, or managing work projects, Quick Notes keeps your thoughts and reminders right where you need them — tied to the exact page you wrote them on.
Key Features:
- Per-tab notes — Each browser tab gets its own persistent note that auto-saves and auto-restores when you revisit the tab
- Sidebar integration — Open the note editor as a sidebar split-pane alongside the page you're viewing.
- Real-time auto-save — Notes save automatically as you type, no manual save button needed
- Tab switching — Notes update instantly when you switch between tabs, showing the correct note for each page
- Saved notes list — See all your saved notes in the main extension popup, organized by tab title and hostname
- Delete individual notes — Remove notes you no longer need directly from the editor or the popup
Perfect for:
- Students — Jot down lecture notes, research summaries, or citation details on academic paper tabs
- Shoppers — Save product comparisons, price tracking, or wish lists on shopping sites
- Developers — Keep code snippets, bug notes, or documentation references pinned to specific pages
- Writers — Draft ideas, outlines, or character notes attached to the page you're researching
- Project managers — Track task notes, meeting agendas, or status updates per project tab
How it works:
1. Click the Quick Notes icon in your browser toolbar to open the popup
2. Click "Launch Quick Notes" to open the note editor as a sidebar split-pane
3. The editor automatically detects which tab you're on and shows or creates a note for that specific URL
4. Type your note — it auto-saves in real-time as you type.
5. Switch tabs and the note updates to show the note (or empty editor) for the new tab
6. See all your saved notes in the popup's "Saved Notes" section — click any to jump back to that tab's note
Quick Notes respects your privacy — all notes are stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local. No data is collected or transmitted anywhere. Your notes never leave your device.
