About Primitive Pass
Primitive Pass is the browser companion for the Primitive Pass password manager. You need a Primitive Pass account to use it.
Your vault is encrypted on your device before it is synced. Sign-in uses OPAQUE, so your master password is not sent to or learned by our server, and the server holds only encrypted vault data.
What the extension does:
- Fills saved logins on the exact site they were saved for. A login only matches the same scheme, host and port, and lookalike (punycode) domains need extra confirmation.
- Offers to save or update a login after you sign in.
- Works with passkeys from your vault on sites you have turned on.
- Copies a username or password to the clipboard, then clears it after a short time, but only if the clipboard still holds what we copied.
- Locks itself after five minutes of inactivity, and you can lock it any time.
- Shows requests from AI agents (for example "wants to use" or "wants to see" a login) in a notification list, and nothing is released until you approve it.
- Optional: connect a Primitive Pass companion app on the same computer so local AI agents can ask for approved access. This is off until you turn it on and grant the extra browser permission.
How site access works: Primitive Pass has no access to the sites you browse by default. You press "Enable site" in the popup, Chrome asks you, and access is limited to that one site. On an enabled site the extension reads the page address and the login or passkey fields it needs to match, fill or save a credential.
What it does not do: no ads, no analytics or tracking, no selling or sharing of data, and no remote code. It does not collect a browsing history.
