The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Prelude
A calm new tab for organizing Chrome bookmarks, open tabs, and Read later.
Prelude makes your Chrome new-tab page a home for everyday browsing. Open a favorite site, find a tab from another window, or return to a page you saved for later.
Prelude reads Chrome bookmarks and the titles and URLs of open tabs, and reads frequently visited sites only after you enable the feature and grant permission. It uses these data to display, open, search, manage, and collect pages. The data stays local: it is not uploaded, sold, or used for advertising. Only a web search explicitly submitted by the user is passed by Chrome to the configured default search provider.
Frequently visited sites, when you want them
This feature is off by default. Enable it in Settings and grant permission to see frequent sites in the sidebar and search. Hide unwanted sites or turn the feature off at any time. Prelude does not read your full browsing history or count visits.
Your bookmarks, ready when you are
Keep your existing Chrome bookmark folders. Add, edit, delete, and reorder pages right from a new tab. Today brings Pinned, Read later, and Favorites together; Recently added helps you find a page you just saved.
Pick up where you left off
See tabs across browser windows. Switch to a page, close a finished tab, or drag tabs into a different order or window. Search bookmarks and open tabs together. Enter an address to open it, or submit a query to Chrome's default search engine without changing your search settings.
Save it for later
Use the toolbar or page context menu to save the current page, a whole window, or a tab group to Read later. The default Alt + Shift + S shortcut saves the current page. Keep tab order and choose whether to skip duplicate URLs or keep a copy. Turn on Close after saving to close only the tabs that were successfully saved. Missing bookmark titles are completed when possible; titles you enter yourself are preserved.
Make yourself at home
Choose a light, dark, or system theme. Available in Simplified Chinese, English, Japanese, Spanish, French, and Russian.
Privacy and control
No account, ads, or analytics. Bookmarks remain ordinary Chrome bookmarks and follow your own Chrome Sync settings. Preferences and temporary state stay local. Your bookmarks and folders remain after uninstalling Prelude unless you delete them.
