Polly Alt - AI Alt Text Assistant

Polly Alt is an intelligent accessibility assistant designed to help developers, content creators, and accessibility advocates audit and generate accurate, context-aware alt text for web images. Functioning like an extra set of eyes on your browser, Polly Alt scans your active webpage, identifies missing or insufficient image descriptions, and leverages Google's Gemini Vision AI to generate meaningful alternative text tailored to the surrounding content. Key Features: • Instant Page Auditor: Rapidly scans any active web page to detect missing alt text and summarizes image status in an intuitive slide-out panel. • Smart Functional Element Detection: Automatically identifies interactive elements like links and buttons containing images, flagging missing functional alt text as high priority. • Context-Aware AI Generation: Utilizes Google's Gemini Vision model to analyze both the visual imagery and adjacent text on the page, producing highly relevant alt text options. • Visual Element Finder: Easily locate any image on a crowded page with a single click, smoothly scrolling and applying a high-visibility highlight around the target element. • Batch Export: Queue your generated alt text entries and export them cleanly as formatted CSV or text summaries for rapid integration into your codebase or CMS. How to Use: 1. Enter your Google Gemini API key in the extension options. 2. Navigate to any webpage you wish to inspect. 3. Launch Polly Alt via the extension icon or right-click context menu ("Scan Page with Polly Alt"). 4. Review image statuses, generate AI suggestions, and copy or export your completed alt tags. Privacy First: Polly Alt stores your API key locally using secure browser storage. Image URLs and page context snippets are transmitted directly to Google's Gemini API strictly for processing. No personal data, browsing history, or user telemetry is ever tracked or stored on external servers.
