The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About PixSync | Private Bookmark & Tab Sync
PixSync securely synchronizes your bookmarks between Chromium-based browsers. You can also optionally synchronize recent browsing history, restorable open-tab sessions, and information about your installed extensions.
Your data stays under your control. PixSync does not require an account with the extension developer and does not use a developer-operated synchronization server. Encrypted synchronization data is stored in a secret (unlisted) GitHub Gist owned by you, or optionally in your own Koofr cloud storage over WebDAV.
Key features:
• Synchronization between multiple Chromium-based browsers
• Bookmark synchronization, including folders, moves, renames, and deletions
• Optional recent history synchronization
• Optional restorable open-tab sessions
• Optional installed extension list synchronization for comparison
• End-to-end encryption before browser data leaves your device
• Sign in with GitHub in one click, no token to copy
• Guided setup that checks your encryption key against your other devices
• Your own secret GitHub Gist as encrypted storage, or optionally Koofr (WebDAV)
• Automatic periodic synchronization
• Fast synchronization after bookmark changes
• Manual “Sync now” option
• Configurable synchronization interval
• Device overview and device-file management
• Encrypted bookmark restore points
• Conflict handling and protection against unusual mass deletions
• Available in English, Polish, German, Spanish, Hungarian and Simplified Chinese
Privacy:
• No advertising
• No analytics or telemetry
• No PixSync-operated synchronization server
• No browser data sent to the PixSync developer
• Your GitHub sign-in token (or Koofr app password) and your encryption key are stored locally in your browser
• They are sent only to GitHub or Koofr, never to the PixSync developer
• Browser data is encrypted before being uploaded
• Sensitive authentication URLs and non-web addresses are excluded from history and session synchronization
Setup takes a few minutes. Sign in with GitHub: PixSync shows a short code that you approve on github.com, and it asks only for access to Gists. Then create an encryption key and save it. On each additional device, sign in to the same storage and enter the same encryption key. Pasting a GitHub token manually is still possible. PixSync automatically creates the required secret Gist.
History, open-tab sessions, and the installed extension list are optional. PixSync requests the corresponding browser permissions only when you enable these features. Access to github.com and to Koofr is requested only when you choose to sign in or connect that storage.
PixSync is designed for users who want convenient browser synchronization without relying on a developer-operated synchronization service.
