PiazzaPlus: Smarter Search for Piazza Discussions Please email piazzabot.ece@utoronto.ca for new course suggestions. Registered courses: -APS105 Winter 2026 -ECE244 Fall 2025 PiazzaPlus enhances your Piazza experience by making it faster and easier to find the answers you need. Unlike Piazza’s built-in search, which relies only on keywords, PiazzaPlus combines both semantic and keyword search to understand the meaning behind your query, while transcribing images to help you find those, too. This means you’ll see relevant posts even when they’re phrased differently, helping you avoid duplicates and quickly discover existing solutions. With a familiar Piazza-like interface, PiazzaPlus automatically processes both text and images in posts, ensuring nothing gets missed in search results. By surfacing contextually similar discussions and filtering them through precise keyword matching, PiazzaPlus delivers more accurate results—so you can spend less time searching and more time learning. Main Features: > Hybrid semantic–keyword search for more accurate and meaningful results. > Image-aware search through automatic captioning of uploaded images. > Efficient ranking system that prioritizes the most relevant threads at the top. > Proven improvements in retrieval quality, achieving over 120% higher precision compared to native Piazza search. > Seamless browser extension integration for quick access while browsing Piazza. PiazzaPlus helps students and instructors cut through noise, reduce duplicate questions, and make better use of course discussions. Note: Only registered courses will work for now. Future work includes expanding to more courses over time. Disclaimer: PiazzaPlus is an independent project. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Piazza.
