About PhantomShield: email aliases
PhantomShield gives every site its own email address. Mail still reaches your real inbox, and the site never learns where that is. When one of those addresses starts getting mail from strangers, you know which site passed it on, and you switch that address off.
This extension makes those addresses where you need them: on the page that asks for your email.
- Click the PhantomShield button on a sign-up page. You get a new alias for that site, filled into the form and copied.
- Or right-click the box that asks for your email address and choose "PhantomShield: fill in an alias for this site".
- Come back to the site later, and the extension offers the alias you made for it, for signing in.
- Away from any site, type what the alias is for, and it is made and copied.
You need a PhantomShield account (phantomshield.com). There is a free trial. After it, the service is paid.
What it can do, and what it cannot
- It does not read the pages you visit. It looks at a page only when you click its button or its right-click item, and only to find the box to fill in.
- When you ask for an alias, it sends PhantomShield the name of the site you are on (such as netflix.com), so that the alias can be made for it. Nothing else about your browsing is sent, and nothing is sent to anyone else.
- Connected to your account, it can make aliases and nothing else. It cannot see your aliases, your inbox or your settings. You can disconnect it in the extension or on your Account page at any time.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking.
