About Pellet - Web Clipper
Clip anything you find on the web straight into Pellet, the notes and task manager that keeps your vault as plain Markdown files on your own computer.
CLIP PAGES THE WAY YOU WANT
• Save the page you're on as a note: the article as clean Markdown, the page's details as properties, and a link back to the source.
• Templates decide the note's name, folder, properties and body. Use variables such as {{title}}, {{author}}, {{content}}, {{selection}} and {{highlights}}, filters, and if/for logic.
• Templates can pick themselves by web address or by the page's structured data, so recipes, videos and articles each get their own layout.
• Choose how a clip saves: a new note, added to the top or bottom of an existing note or of today's daily note, or replacing a note.
• Import and export templates in Obsidian Web Clipper's format, so templates you already use work as they are.
• Optionally save a page's images into your vault, so the note reads fully offline.
HIGHLIGHT AND READ
• Highlight text and images on any page. Your highlights stay on the page and can go into the clip.
• Reader view shows the page as a clean article, with themes and adjustable text size and width.
TASKS
• Turn a page or selected text into a Pellet task, with board, group, priority, tags and due date.
• In Gmail, click the ✓ Pellet button on an open email to make it a task that links back to the message.
OPTIONAL AI INTERPRETER
• Off by default. Add an AI provider with your own API key (or a local model through Ollama), and templates can ask it to summarise or extract from the page.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
The extension has no servers of its own, no analytics, no tracking and no ads. It saves only to the Pellet app on your own computer, through its local address (127.0.0.1). It reads a page only when you ask it to. The one exception is the Interpreter: when you turn it on and run a prompt, the page content your template names goes to the AI provider you chose.
REQUIREMENTS
• The Pellet desktop app, version 0.25.0 or later, running on the same computer. Download it at https://getpellet.app.
• In Pellet: Settings › AI & MCP › turn on Enable local API.
• Copy this extension's origin from its settings page (General) and paste it into Pellet under Settings › AI & MCP › Allowed origins. Then click Test connection.
