The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Peekray: Scam Link Checker
Peekray shows where a link really goes before you open it, and asks before you open a likely scam.
Rest your pointer on a link and a small tag appears under it: the real destination and a clear answer, such as Safe, Check first or Scam.
How it checks a link
- Follows short links and redirects on Peekray's server (up to four hops), so you see where they land without your browser going there.
- Looks the link up in three public phishing and malware lists: OpenPhish, PhishTank and URLhaus. Peekray keeps its own copy, so lookups never go to the list providers.
- Asks Jev, TypeSafe AI's decision model, about links no list knows yet. When Jev can't answer, a rule-based quick check answers instead, and only well-known sites are called Safe.
When you click a likely scam, Peekray stops and asks: stay on the page, or open it anyway.
Also
- Right-click any link and choose "Check this link with Peekray".
- The toolbar button lists the links checked on the current tab, and checks a link you paste.
- Wrong answer? Click "Wrong?" in the toolbar list, or "Not a scam? Tell Peekray" in the warning.
- Switch checks off for a site, or switch off the warning, from the toolbar button.
Privacy
Peekray sends only the link you hover, focus or click, that link's text and the page title (with email addresses and long numbers removed), plus your report if you tell it an answer was wrong. It never reads passwords, form fields or cookies. There's no account and nothing to pay. Full policy: https://peekray.com/privacy
Peekray can be wrong in both directions, so keep your browser's own protection switched on too.
